Compact Shear-Seal BOP (CSS)
Our Compact Shear & Seal (CSS) BOP valve is a modular and stackable assembly designed for surface and open water subsea well intervention operations where reduced size and weight is advantageous. It can simplify wellsite handling and logistics and improves efficiency and safety by avoiding heavy lifting and access restrictions.
The CSS is 50% lighter than conventional designs, weighing less than a tonne and measuring approx. 850mm x 540mm x 500mm. As a dual stack up the size is just 850mm x 1080mm x 500mm (33.5” x 19.75” x 42.5”). It is available as a 5-1/8” or a 6-3/8” bore assembly with a pressure rating of 5,000 psi, a shear rating of 100,000 lbs and is suitable for slickline, braided line, e-line cable, hollow rod, coiled tubing up to 2-7/8” (80-130ksi) and e-coil.
As a dual, triple or quad stack up, the BOP can deliver both pipe ram and shear ram functionality. The modular addition of the seal ram block paired with the shear and seal block enables seal function or shear and seal function independently or simultaneously. Changeable inserts allow for simple field replacement of seals or to configure for a different size.
We have reduced the size and weight by housing the actuators and pistons within the assembly so that the rams can be operated in a much smaller envelope than conventional BOPs. This helps to simplify wellsite handling and logistics and improves efficiency and operational safety by avoiding heavy lifting, access hatch restrictions and height constraints.
When combined with our Rigless Subsea Access System (RSAS) or Surface Intervention System (SIS), the space and efficiency savings are multiplied, allowing rigless intervention with a reduced footprint . The design also allows easy in-field maintenance and seal and ram replacement without requiring a crane.
The CSS and SIS are provided as part of Unity's shallow intervention service or are available on an individual sale or rental basis. The CSS can also be supplied separately for onshore and offshore coiled tubing or wireline operations.
Crossovers are available to integrate with clients’ rig-up configurations and training in redress and maintenance can be provided.
